ABOUT

Artist Statement.
Dana DiPasquale's photography features subtle images that illustrate the science of emotion. As a published researcher who has also physically trained elite athletes, Dana combines a scientist’s eye for strong lines and shapes, an exercise physiologist’s eye for form and movement, and an artist’s eye for emotion and perspective. Her photographs of seemingly common scenes often evoke stories deep within their layers. She portrays small scenes from seemingly simple moments as powerful glimpses into a life. Her photography provides a different perspective on a life that is less ordinary.

Biography.
Dana DiPasquale is an emerging photographer currently located in Chicago but originally from New Jersey. While she is a traditionally trained scientist, she is a self-taught artist. As a child, her grandfather would always have a brand new box of crayons, a camera with film, and a science experiment ready for her. Although encouraged by family members to pursue the arts, her love for science and practicality won out, and she earned an undergraduate degree in biology, a master’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in exercise biology.

Dana founded and leads an international group of photographers who have joined to practice and perfect their craft, improve business skills, and form a collective, supportive body of skilled artists. Dana has also formed an organization of international photographers who donate the proceeds of their work to charitable causes such as cancer research. She also acts as a representative for other artists and runs the business end of an artist’s company. Dana has been recognized for her work as an active participant in many online art communities and enjoys the opportunity to share her knowledge, learn from others, collaborate, and encourage fellow artists.
